Oman Defeated by Hong Myung-bo, Coach Silhabi's Hardest Super Stronger in 2 World Cup Qualifiers

The Oman Football Association has made a strong move to change its coach in two games of the third Asian qualifying round for the 2026 North-China World Cup.

The Oman Football Association announced on the 19th (local time) that it had terminated its contract with Czech coach Jaroslav Silhabi and appointed his country coach Rashid Jabeur as its new head coach.

Silhavi is the leader who led the Czech national team from 2018 to 2022. He led the Czech Republic, which was considered a weak player at the time, to the quarterfinals at the 2020 European Championship (Euro 2020), and led the Netherlands in the round of 16. Based on this career, he took over as coach of the Oman national team in February and drew high expectations by leading the team to the third qualifying round with three wins and one draw in the second qualifying round.

However, Oman's momentum was dampened as they entered the third qualifying round. After losing 0-1 at an away match in Iraq in the first match, they fell to the bottom of Group B with a crushing 1-3 defeat against South Korea at home on the 10th. In particular, the match against South Korea was locked 1-1 until the middle of the second half, before collapsing to Son Heung-min and Joo Min-kyu in succession at the end.

The Omani Football Association responded quickly to the result. The newly appointed coach is known as a legend of Omani soccer. "Although we have difficult challenges ahead of us, we will instill strong mental strength and confidence in the national team," Jabeur said after taking office. 안전놀이터

Oman will play its third match of the third qualifying round against Kuwait at home on March 10, before an away match against Jordan on March 15. It plans to meet with South Korea again in March next year.
